Please tell us something about you and your background. How did you get interested in flash animation?
I studied image and media technology with a strong focus on computer art, subjects included video, graphic design, 2D and 3D animations among others.

I have been working in this field ever since, and with the growing interest of the Internet, coding HTML and Flash websites became a necessity. Since I have a keen interest in animations, it was more then logical that I was attracted to Flash web design and its unlimited and unique possibilities.

Do you think it is necessary to have the formal training in drawing and painting to work with flash animation?
Depends, if you are working on more traditional animations such as character animations you can't do without. If you create more standard animations such as rain, falling snow, etc which are more technical rather than creative, there is no need to have any formal training, just a keen interest and being persistent will do a lot.

Where do you think the flash stands in web technology, now and in the future?
It's the number 1 technology to add animations to your website, and there is nothing out there that can challenge it. The future is very bright, and I foresee that eventually 30% of all websites will be 100% Flash based, the rest may use some sort of Flash technology in combination with standard HTML coding. The main problem that I can see is that Flash is becoming more and more a programming tool, instead of a design/animation tool.

What made you think of making the software based on flash Technology?
The full Flash software is simply too complex for 90% of all web designers, so to have programs that make it simple to add Flash to your website seemed like a very good idea.

Could you tell us about your softwares in a brief?
Our software allows people to create Flash animations such as website intros ,
banners, menus, buttons, slide shows, news tickers, and virtual tours.

The main purpose of all this is that you have a simple way to create Flash elements that can be easily added to your website.

For example, a slideshow allows people to show a sequence of several pictures all in the same spot, where you would only be able to show one single picture without using Flash technology.

A virtual tour is a great way of showcasing your property on the Internet in an efficient and cost effective way, something that could not have been done without Flash technology.

Intros and banners let you set a certain atmosphere to a website, in many cases all you need is a great looking banner to bring your website to the next level. A good example of this is our Valentines Day animation

Buttons and menus are very important to a website, and creating good looking buttons is not that easy. They must be designed attractively to become one of the main focus points for the visitor. Our menu/button designs are doing just that, plus with some nice animated effects that we applied to the menus/buttons to make them stand out.

News tickers are a great way of providing current information and changing news to your customers.

What are the advantages according you your softwares have over Adobe Flash?
They are low cost and easy to use, it's a "no hassle" way of getting Flash animations on your website.

Can you please give a piece of advice to our visitors who are interested in flash animation?

Keep it simple, just add animations to your website when they add value to it, don't clutter your design with lots of animations and always focus on your textual content.

Amara Software develops easy-to-use Flash web design tools. They currently have 5 software applications: Amara news ticker, a Amara menu builder, Amara intro and banner builder, Amara Slide show builder, and Amara Photo Animation Software.
