Focus Effect - Layer Style Part 9
Software : Photoshop CS3
Level : Advance

  .

Concept: The lesson is designed using Adobe Photoshop. We have used selections, different combination of image editing tools and filters for most of the effects. Photoshop comes up with lots of the options and scope for experiment is much more than you can imagine. We wish to encourage you to use different options and tools to get better output. The lessons and techniques described need to be followed as a guideline to achieve the effect.

1. Open Photoshop. Open the image you want to apply layer style to stand out the flower. We have used the same flower image for this lesson.

2. Select the top layer this time where we had copied just the selected flower.

Layer > Layer Style > Gradient Overlay

Black & white gradient may be selected by default. If not, select black & white gradient. Change the mode to Vivid Light. Keep rest of the settings as it is.

3. Go to History palette and Undo the effect. Make sure that the top layer is selected.

Layer > Layer Style > Color Overlay

The default color is set to red. We used the same color. Change the Blend mode to Difference. Keep the opacity 100%.
